First Green Deal Plan Submitted Direct to GDFC

10 May 2013

The first Green Deal plan to be submitted using direct software has been received by the Green Deal Finance Company (GDFC).

The plan, submitted by a Green Deal advisor for British Gas, used advanced software to pass information on to the GDFC without the need for duplicate data entry.

About the Software

The software used to submit the plan was created by Stroma Certification, a specialist in building and sustainability.

Stroma’s RSAP+ Green Deal Plan and Green Deal Finance Application Module allows a Green Deal advisor to arrange a plan with customers looking to make the most of the Government’s flagship energy and carbon reduction scheme.

Under the scheme, households can apply for upfront funding to be used to make energy-saving home improvements, including Cavity Wall Insulation and Loft Insulation.

After an initial property assessment, the customer and advisor examine which measures are best suited. The advisor enters the desired measures into the software, which interacts with a series of other modules and retrieves relevant information that is then used to generate a Green Deal plan.

Once the initial plan is created, a customer can make amendments to generate a better plan. For example, if it has been decided that a replacement boiler would be suited, the customer can also opt for Cavity Wall Insulation or Loft Insulation. The software then re-assesses the information and generates a new plan.

When the customer agrees with the plan, Stroma’s software allows the Green Deal advisor to send the information to the GDFC with one-click.

Improving Green Deal Efficiency

Previously, all plans agreed were manually submitted to the GDFC, which resulted in the need for re-entry of the data submitted.

Stroma’s software eliminates the need for duplicate information to be entered into the GDFC systems, meaning the scheme – which is designed to promote energy efficiency – itself becomes more efficient.

The software is also flexible, meaning that bespoke plans tailored to an individual property can be created with relative ease.

About Stroma Certification

In addition to creating software that connects the GDFC with Green Deal Providers, Stroma Certification also offers a series of Green Deal training.

The company also offers accredited certification schemes for companies looking to become Green Deal Assessor Organisations and Green Deal installers.

Stroma Certification plans to release a similar software package aimed at supporting the Energy Company Obligation (ECO).

Loft Insulation and Cavity Wall Insulation are both available under the ECO scheme.
