HOME INSULATION GRANTS
Grants are available to cover some or all of cost of Loft, Cavity Wall and External Wall Insulation. The grants are available under the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO) which is part of the UK Government's new Green Deal Energy Efficiency program.
ECO is an obligation on Gas & Electricity suppliers to pay for Energy Efficient improvements in households that are more likely to be fuel poor or properties that are classed as ‘Hard-to-Treat’.
Qualifying homeowners and private tenants can claim a grant to make their property more energy efficient and save money on their heating bills.
Insulation Grant Criteria
There are three types of insulation grant currently available:
If anyone living in the household receives a qualifying income-related benefit, you can qualify for 100% Loft and Cavity Wall Insulation grants.
If you live in an area where incomes are low and there is a greater chance of people living in fuel poverty, you can also qualify for free Loft & Cavity Wall Insulation.
Properties that have cavity walls classed as hard-to-treat can have Cavity Wall Insulation installed free of charge. Hard-to-Treat cavities include those containing rubble, partially filled with board and narrow cavities, in addition to homes that are three storeys and above.
Solid wall properties can have External Wall Insulation installed free of charge if they are mainly heated by solid fuel or electricity. Homes heated by other fuel types can qualify for a grant to cover up to 50% of the work. Loft Insulation is also provided free with hard-to-treat wall measures.
What if I don't qualify?
If you do not qualify for a Loft or Cavity Wall Insulation grant, we can arrange for an approved installer to carry out a free survey and provide you with a quotation to carry out the work. Loft Insulation costs in the region of £300 to £400 to install.
Everyone qualifies for an External Wall Insulation grant of either 100% or up to 50%.
Is this a new Insulation Grant scheme?
Yes. The Energy Company Obligation (ECO) was launched in January 2013 to support the Government's new Green Deal Energy Efficiency program. ECO replaces the CERT and CESP schemes which closed in December 2012
How Can EnergyLink Help?
EnergyLink have a network of approved Installers who all have access to ECO Insulation Grant funding. Providing you qualify, we will allocate you to one of these Installers who will carry out a free, no-obligation survey.
If your property is suitable for Home Insulation and you qualify for a Grant, our Installer will carry out the work should you be happy to go ahead. They will then claim the grant from an Energy Supplier or one of their agents.
