Get your Home Insulation Grant today
Under the Governments Home Insulation Grants scheme you could make big energy bill savings by having your loft and/or cavity walls insulated. You can also cover all or most of the cost with a grant.
Loft Insulation traps heat in your home and can cut the amount of heat that escapes your property by 25%. Insulating your cavity walls can cut around a third of the heat that escapes.
Full or partial government grants for insulation are available and do not have to be paid back. Approved installers will arrange them on your behalf.
Up to 70% Home Insulation Grants available
All homeowners and private tenants are entitled to a partial government grant for insulation which will cover between 40% and 70% of the cost. This is known as ‘Able to Pay’ funding.
With a typical 50% grant, a fee of between £99 and £199 will be paid for each type of insulation. This is likely to be covered by your heating bill savings within a couple of years.
100% FREE Home Insulation Grant
Anyone aged 70 or above, or people claiming certain benefits, can claim 100% Cavity Wall Insulation grants and Loft Insulation grants. The government regards these people as a ‘Priority Group’.
People who claim the following benefits, tax credits or allowances can apply for a full Insulation Grant. You may be asked to provide proof of age or the benefits you receive.

Sounds too good to be true? The Government and utility companies consider these households to be a priority, which is why insulation is offered free of charge. This type of funding is also known as 'Priority Group'. You may be required to provide evidence of your age or benefits received in order to claim this fully funded grant.
N.B. Pensioners aged under 70, will not receive 100% Insulation Grants for Home Insulation unless they also receive a qualifying benefit.
Insulation Grants Restrictions
As well as meeting the criteria for full or partial insulation grants, you must also check that any existing insulation in your loft is not deeper than the restricted limit. If you qualify for a full Loft Insulation Grant, your loft insulation must not be over 60 mm (2.5 inches) deep.
To claim a partial grant, the depth restriction is typically no more than 100mm (4 inches). In the event that scaffolding or other special access equipment is needed for the installation process, you may incur an additional charge.
