1) Is it really free?
Yes, absolutely. If our online form indicates that you should qualify for a 100% grant, in most cases you will not have to pay anything towards the cost. In a small number of cases, you may be asked to make a contribution towards the cost, depending on the amount of work required and the existing efficiency of the property.

2) Where does the money come from?
The money comes from Energy suppliers such as British Gas, NPower, etc. The Government have set the utility companies targets to reduce carbon emissions. This is known as the Energy Companies Obligation (ECO). Installers complete the work and then invoice the utility companies or their managing agents for the grant amount.

3) How do you select your Installers?
We ensure that all our Installers are registered with the necessary trade bodies, have access to the grant funding and can carry out a free, no-obligation survey. Our selection process also demands high standards of Quality, Customer Care and Health & Safety.

4) Will I ever have to pay anything?
You will not have to pay anything if you qualify for a 100% grant. If you do not qualify and you request a quote, you will have to pay for the work once it is completed.

5) What if I rent my property?
It is the occupier of a property that is entitled to a grant as they pay the fuel bills. Private tenants are entitled to free Insulation, depending on their circumstances. Our Installers will need written permission from the landlord before going ahead with the work. Council or Housing Association tenants should contact their local Council or Housing Association directly.

6) Are there any health risks?
Neither the Government, the utility companies, the installers or the material manufacturers are aware of any health risks associated with home insulation.

7) Is there much mess?
Any mess from the Loft Insulation is contained within the loft. There may be some dust from drilling during Cavity Wall Insulation but the installers will clean up after themselves. Fitting External Wall Insulation can produce some mess during installation but again, the installers will clear up afterwards.

8) How long does the work take?
For the average sized property, Cavity Wall Insulation takes around two to three hours and Loft Insulation takes around one hour. External Wall Insulation takes several days to a week, depending on the amount of work required.

9) Will I have to fill in lots of paperwork?
No. Providing you would like to go ahead, the Surveyor who carries out your free no-obligation survey will complete the necessary paperwork. The Installer will then deal with the grant application on your behalf.

10) How long does the insulation last?
The insulation is designed to last for the lifetime of the property.

11) Is there a guarantee?
All work is completed to the customer’s satisfaction. Cavity & External Wall Insulation come with an independent 25 year guarantee provided by CIGA (the Cavity Insulation Guarantee Agency) or SWIGA (the Solid Wall Insulation Guarantee Agency).

12) How soon can I have my insulation?
This will vary depending on the area in which you live and the time of year but you could expect to have the insulation installed between two and six weeks after your enquiry.
